Introduction

Our names are David and Kay Hamer and next week we will have lived in Japan for a year. A love of adventure and my husbands job brought us here. We want to use this blog to share a little of what it is like to leave the comforts of home and move to a country that is beautiful but a world away from what we know.

We’ve been married 33 years and are best friends. We have four adult children, and five grandchildren we love with all our hearts. Together we chose to leave our family and friends back home in Utah to live in Japan for a two year adventure. The love of adventure is what allowed us leave our comfort zone. Last year was our first year travel to Asia and even Europe. You are never too old to try something new.

Back in Utah our favorite vacations were spur of the moment. We would jump in the car, maybe dragging some kids or grandkids along. We took joy in opening up the world a little bit for our family with travel and adventure. We miss spending almost every day with family, but by sharing a little of our lives in this blog, we hope to drag everyone along with us to share some Japan’s.
